Minnesota has no shortage of craft beer options, with more than 100 local breweries around the state.
But one city is apparently particularly great if you're a big beer drinker.
SmartAsset released its annual analysis of "The Best Cities for Beer Drinkers" this week, and ranked Duluth at No. 3 overall.
It's behind only Asheville, North Carolina, and Portland, Maine. And it's the only Minnesota city to crack the top 25.
How they came up with the rankings
SmartAsset, a real estate site, looked at 300 large cities to come up with its list, and graded on five metrics:
- Total number of microbreweries and brewpubs
- Number per 100,000 residents
- Average Yelp score of breweries
- Number of bars per 100,000 residents
- And average price for a pint of domestic draught beer
Duluth did well because there's a high concentration of breweries, and it's pretty affordable.
"Duluth has 31 bars per 100,000 residents and 10.4 breweries per 100,000 residents. That means plenty of options for where to get a brew," SmartAsset wrote.
And the average pint of draft beer in the city is just $2, the site found.
