For the freshest of fresh hoppy beer, check out the Fresh Hop Fest

Town Hall Brewery will be hosting its fourth annual Fresh Hop Fest at the Town Hall Lanes on Oct. 22, where people will be able to sample fresh hop beer from more than 20 breweries.

"We've described it in the past as an American Oktoberfest," Stephen Schacht, the brand manager of the Minneapolis brewery, said. Oktoberfest is typically the celebration of the grain harvest, and because Americans love hop-forward beers, celebrating the hop harvest makes a lot of sense, he explained.

Fresh Hop Fest will feature more than 20 fresh hop beers from across the country, including about half from Minnesota breweries.

The complete list of breweries that'll be at the festival isn't confirmed yet (it depends on when the breweries can get their hops). The breweries that are confirmed are:

Schacht says the Fresh Hop Fest is a "unique opportunity" to get a bunch of fresh hop beers in one place – and it's the only time a year people can get them.

And new this year at the Fresh Hop Fest is a chance to taste the difference between a fresh hop and dry hop beer. Town Hall will be offering the Fresh Hop 100 – a pure, unadulterated Minnesota fresh hop beer – as well as the Fresh Hop 100 that's been dry hopped.

Festival goers will be able to try both and compare the difference between them, Hoops says.

Tickets (buy them online here) to Fresh Hop Fest are $7 for general admission, and then an additional $2 for every 4-ounce pour. VIP tickets (which include unlimited tasting, a Fresh Hop tasting glass, exclusive access to VIP beers, a free game of bowling, plus a T-shirt) is $37.
