Trisha Volpe, a seven-year veteran of KARE 11, will return to reporting for both KARE and Minnesota Public Radio as their first joint hire, according to the Pioneer Press.

Volpe worked full time at KARE 11 as she completed her law degree at William Mitchell. After passing the bar exam, Volpe left the Twin Cities television station in April 2012 to pursue a career practicing law at Dorsey & Whitney.

More than a year later, Volpe will fill a newly-created role as "enterprise reporter" for the two stations.

"It was always my goal to figure out how to combine my love of journalism as well as my love of the law," Volpe told the newspaper.

She starts her new gig May 14.
