Former Ordway CEO Kevin McCollum is teaming with 20th Century Fox and other creative partners to develop musicals from the studio's vast library of films, Playbill reports.

McCollum -- one of the creative forces behind such Broadway smashes as "Rent," "Avenue Q" and "In the Heights" -- will be joined by film producer John Davis ("Grumpy Old Men," "Predator") and entertainment executive Tom McGrath to help Fox create at least nine musicals based the studio's films over the next nine years.

McCollum served as the head of the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul from 1995 to 2002.

No specific titles were announced for the endeavor, although McCollum is currently attached to produce a musical based on the 1998 Fox film "Ever After" that starred Drew Barrymore.

McCollum said in a statement that the "early development phase is both an exciting and vulnerable time in the life of a musical."

"This new joint venture provides a much needed foundation to the creative process for myself, my partners, and the artists who will develop these shows," McCollum said. "We are eager to get to work mining the stage theatrical possibilities of the Fox film library."
