Fox 9 news anchor Heidi Collins leaves station

KMSP Fox 9 anchor Heidi Collins has left the station, the Star Tribune reports.

Collins co-anchored the 9 p.m. news with Jeff Passolt for three years, as well as Fox News at 5.

Before that, she worked for eight years at CNN as an anchor and reporter.

"It has been gratifying to contribute to the success of Fox 9 during these three years," Collins said in a statement Friday. "However, I have decided to explore new opportunities. I am blessed to have several opportunities both in television and global business to pursue. Neither of which will be without my continued non-profit work of 17 years supporting our brave troops and their families."

Collins, who is a Minnesota native and graduated from Mounds View High School, made the announcement while on vacation. She last appeared on the air July 29.

Fox 9 has not yet named a replacement, and a station spokesperson said a variety of people will fill in until a new anchor is found, the Star Tribune says.

Collins' exit follows the departure of Fox 9 general manager Bill Dallman, who left the station at the end of May to become vice president of News at Fox Sports One in Los Angeles.
