Grab your overalls and straw hat, the inaugural Minnesota Redneck Festival is coming to Aitkin this spring.

The three-day festival beginning May 20 will feature various events including white trash beer pong, frozen chicken bowling, toilet seat horseshoes, a honky tonk hubcap hurl, an armpit serenade and Miss and Mr. ‘Merica Contests, among others, according to a news release from Butler Building Opera House.

The festival comes after Aitkin was recently ranked the most redneck city in Minnesota by RoadSnacks.

The weekend festival will also include an Officer Down 5K on Saturday, May 21. The race will be done in memory of Steven Sandberg, who was fatally shot at St. Cloud Hospital in October.

Events will take place at the Butler Building and the Aitkin Fairgrounds from Friday May 20 through Sunday May 22. For more information on the festival, contact Sylvia Allen 218-678-2441, the release says.
