Guthrie Theater announces 2013-14 schedule

The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis has unveiled the plays it will produce on its two main stage for its 51st season, the Star Tribune reports.

The famed regional theater announced its 2013-14 schedule Monday, which will begin Sept. 14 with Guthrie director Joe Dowling's revival of Anton Chekov's "Uncle Vanya," which runs through Oct. 27.

The productions include a mixture of classics like "My Fair Lady" and Shakespeare's "Hamlet"/"Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead," and contemporary hits by such playwrights as Christopher Durang and Katori Hall.

Durang's "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" is the hottest of the new plays, the Star Tribune says. The play opened on Broadway last month with Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce in the starring roles.

The 51st season of the Guthrie also includes Tony nominee Marion McClinton's directorial debut at the theater, with "Othello, the Moor of Venice" set to stage March 8- April 20, 2014.

Here's the 2013-2014 lineup:
