Hibbing to salute Bob Dylan with Dylan Days this weekend

Bob Dylan's hometown is celebrating Dylan's birthday with a weekend of festivities dedicated to the Minnesota music legend, The Associated Press reports.

Dylan Days kicks off in Hibbing on Friday -- the same day Dylan turns 72 -- and runs through Sunday. The festival is a continuation of Dylan celebration that kicked off in Duluth last weekend.

Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman in Duluth on May 24, 1941, and grew up in Hibbing before taking on his famous stage name.

The events at Dylan Days include a songwriting workshop, singer-songwriter contest, bus tour, live music and unique postal cancellation of a stamp featuring a limited edition Dylan Days image -- which can be used on memorabilia or actual mail.

For those who want to see Dylan in person, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will be returning to Minnesota July 11 for a concert at Midway Stadium in St. Paul as part of his "AmericanaramA" tour.
