The Minnesota State Fair has announced this year's headline acts for the Leinie Lodge Bandshell, with Minnesota's own Hippo Campus among the performers.
The St. Paul indie rockers will play the bandshell, found by the Space Tower on Cooper Street, on the last two days of the fair, Sunday, Sept. 3 and Labor Day Monday, Sept. 4.
The State Fair also announced California R&B group The Pointer Sisters, best known for '80s hits including "I'm So Excited," "Jump" and "He's So Shy," who will play the stage on the first two nights of the fair, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 24 and 25.
Funk and soul legend George Clinton plays the stage on Aug. 26-27, joined by his music collective Parliament Funkadelic for what's sure to be an electric performance by a band that has been inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Country star Chris Janson, best known for his hit single and album "Buy Me Boat," plays Aug. 28-29, followed by fellow country artist Tanya Tucker on Aug. 30-31.
British rockers Foghat round up the headliners, as they bring "Slow Ride" to the lodge on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 1 and 2.
Unlike the Grandstand, which this year has Nickelback, Stevie Nicks, Usher and Frankie Valli among the performers, the Leinie Lodge is free to attend – though you'll probably have to get there early to get the best seats for headline shows, which start at 8:30 p.m.
You can find the daytime lineup for the Leinie Lodge here.
