Forget about waiting for October to air out your screams -- a horror convention in the Twin Cities is getting a jump on next month's frightful festivities.
Crypticon Minneapolis is set for the Doubletree Hotel in Bloomington Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Several horror and science fiction movie favorites are expected to attend the event, including "Star Wars" star Billy Dee Williams, "E.T. the Extraterrestrial" star C. Thomas Howell and "Evil Dead 2" star Ted Raimi -- the brother and frequent collaborator of acclaimed director Sam Raimi.
Robbinsdale native Kathryn Leigh Scott -- who starred in the classic TV series "Dark Shadows" and had a cameo in director Tim Burton's big-screen version -- is also expected to attend.
Other special guests on tap for the convention include Derek Mears, who played Jason in the "Friday the 13th" reboot in 2009, as well as the classic Predator in "Predators"; "Battle Beyond the Stars" and "Chained Heat" star Sybil Danning; and the "Ladies of the Evil Dead" -- Betsy Baker, Ellen Sandweiss and Theresa Tilly Sarah York.
"Evil Dead" makeup artist Tom Sullivan is also scheduled to bring in items from his "Evil Dead" museum.
The events will feature Q&A panels, autograph and merchandise tables, photo opportunities and on Saturday, fans can lumber around a "Zombie Prom."
Tickets can be purchased online or in-person, and costs vary day-by-day.
