Minnesota is known for a lot of wonderful things: Prince, 10,000 lakes, Paul Bunyan and Babe, Bob Dylan, and ... hotdish.

Sen. Al Franken will host his sixth annual Hotdish Competition with his fellow senator and representatives from Minnesota on Wednesday, May 11, his office announced Wednesday morning.

The competition was postponed in March after President Barack Obama announced his nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court that morning. As members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Franken and Sen. Amy Klobuchar attended the announcement at the White House.

Competing with Franken and Klobuchar (in order of Congressional District): Reps. Tim Walz, John Kline, Erik Paulsen, Betty McCollum, Keith Ellison, Tom Emmer, Collin Peterson and Rick Nolan.

The hotdishes will be judged based on taste, originality, and presentation.

Last year's winner was McCollum, for her “Turkey, Sweet Potato, and Wild Rice Hotdish."

Recipes of all of the entries will be posted on Franken's website after the competition.

Last year's recipes can be found here.

The competition supports a good cause – the delegation will be making a donation to Second Harvest Heartland.
