How to get to the Eagles-Vikings NFC Championship game – and how much it'll cost

Getting there is expensive, staying there not so much.

The Minneapolis Miracle is over and done with, and attention now turns to Philadelphia for Sunday's NFC Championship game with the Eagles.

With no U.S. Bank Stadium to help Minnesota, there'll be no chance of recreating the hostile atmosphere the Saints had to face on Sunday.

But that's not to say Vikings fans can't try.

We've taken a look at how you can get to Philly for the game, and how much it'll set you back.

Getting there

Both Delta and American fly to Philadelphia from MSP, but it's not going to be cheap due to the late notice, as well as the demand for tickets.

According to Skyscanner, Friday-Monday and Saturday-Monday flights direct to Philly will likely set you back $750-$850 each when booking two tickets.

You could pay around $650 each for two tickets and fly to New York, then pay $20 each for a Megabus to take you to Philly.

But one of the cheapest ways to get to Philadelphia would be to fly to Baltimore-Washington D.C. first.

Southwest currently has flights leaving Friday at 5:30 p.m, returning Monday at 8:35 a.m. for $435 each when booking two tickets.

You could then overnight in (probably cheaper) to Baltimore, and then pay $20-$40 for a Megabus (the journey takes 2 hours) to Philly.

Staying there

You can keep things cheaper by staying out of downtown, and helpfully Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles' stadium, is actually quite close to the airport.

Three nights (Fri.-Mon.) in basic accommodation like the Microtel Inn, Extended Stay and Hampton Inn hotels at Philadelphia Airport currently range from $240-$310 – which at $80-$100 a night is actually a lot cheaper than you'll find in the Twin Cities at the best of times.

If you want to stay downtown, then the Rodeway Inn is currently going for $440 for three nights.

If you want to get a real deal, check out Airbnb, where studio apartments are currently available for as little as $50 a night.

Going to the game

There's little chance to save money on this – tickets are expensive.

A tranche of championship game tickets went on sale Tuesday morning and sold out almost immediately, so you're now going to have to look at the NFL Ticket Exchange or Stubhub to get guaranteed legitimate tickets.

Currently the cheapest seats on the Ticket Exchange are a whopping $420.

The cheapest on Stubhub meanwhile are a bit more affordable, but not by much, at $373.

There are a few on the Philadelphia Craigslist page as well, but nobody is asking for less than $400 – and you'd be taking an awful risk banking on a Craigslist purchase and then flying out there.
