Illness keeps 99-year-old Vikings fan Millie Wall from the Super Bowl

One of her granddaughters will be taking her place.

Millie Wall became a darling among Vikings fans when at the age of 99 years old she attended her first Vikings playoffs game.

That game happened to be the Minneapolis Miracle, when U.S. Bank Stadium erupted as the Vikings pulled off a near-impossible victory.

After achieving cult hero status among Vikings fans, Millie was given two tickets to the Super Bowl by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who chatted with her during the Saints game.

Unfortunately, she won't be able to make it to the game between the Patriots and Eagles.

Her granddaughter Ashley Wall, who is taking the other ticket to the game, revealed on Facebook that Millie is recovering from a bout of pneumonia.

Another of Millie's granddaughter's will take her place, promising they'll "tip back a handful of screwdrivers" in her honor.

The news was met with an affectionate outpouring of well wishes.
