Jack Johnson announces lottery-based Twin Cities concert

Folk rocker Jack Johnson is taking a different approach to selling tickets to his upcoming concert tour -- including a date in the Twin Cities.

Johnson announced Monday that tickets to his "From Here to You to Now Tour 2013 Tour" will be available through a lottery system on his website.

The tour stops at the State Theatre in Minneapolis Oct. 7.

Fans can start entering the lottery on his site now, and must indicate which date on the tour they would like to attend by 10 a.m. June 24. Winners will be notified by email.

Johnson says on his site that he's going the lottery route in order to "allow fans a fair shot at attending these intimate shows," which will be staged at "some of the most beautiful, intimate seated theaters in North America."

Johnson is releasing his new album, "From Here to You to Now" on Sept. 17.
