"Honey, let's go on the Jerry Springer show."
While that sentence might normally raise any number of red flags, it could have a more benign meaning in the Duluth area these days.
The man whose TV show is notorious for its racy topics and brawling guests has teamed up with another television institution: The Price is Right. As the Duluth News Tribune reports, Springer will host a live version of the venerable game show at the DECC next month.
The pairing is actually not new. Springer's touring edition of the show has been around for a couple of years, with extended runs in Las Vegas and Branson. Last year a reviewer at Atlantic City Insiders praised the show, saying Springer brings to it "a great wit and slightly edgy perspective."
As a segment on biography.com attests, Springer's career is more wide-ranging than some may realize -- encompassing law school at Northwestern University and a stint as mayor of Cincinnati.
But, of course, we know him best as the host of The Jerry Springer Show, which is gearing up for its 23rd season. And if you're involved in a bisexual affair ... or are a hot stripper with drama at the club, they'd like to hear from you.
If, on the other hand, you're just a Minnesotan who wants to watch The Price is Right be forewarned that winning the Showcase Showdown actually comes at a pretty high price -- at least up front. ABC News reported last month on the hefty tax bite that accompanies game show winnings.
