JT is reportedly set to perform at Super Bowl 52

The last time he performed was, erm, THAT Super Bowl.

The rumor mill is in overdrive about the halftime show for Super Bowl 52, with reports on Wednesday suggesting Justin Timberlake is finalizing a deal to perform.

The former N*Sync singer has been asked to headline the halftime show at U.S. Bank Stadium on Feb. 4, US Weekly reports, with the 36-year-old reportedly "finalizing" his deal with Super Bowl organizers.

Despite rumors of a collaboration with Jay-Z (who reportedly rejected the chance to perform at the NFL showpiece), discussions right now are focused on the SexyBack singer performing alone.

Should volunteers for the 2018 Super Bowl be paid?

It would mean a return to Minnesota for Timberlake's wife, actor Jessica Biel, who is a native of Ely.

In case you have forgotten, the last time Timberlake performed at the Super Bowl was in 2004, when he appeared on the stage with Janet Jackson for a show later referred to as "nipplegate."

A segment of the routine saw Timberlake rip off part of Jackson's corset, only for the famous "wardrobe malfunction" that left Jackson's breast exposed to hundreds of millions of viewers.

The controversy sparked a permanent change in broadcast rules, with the Federal Communications Commission demanding a five-second broadcast delay during live performances.

Regardless of who performs at Super Bowl 52 – just remember it'll never top this from Prince.
