KARE 11's Eric Perkins slips into Leno's final goodbye

Most viewers probably missed it, but Minnesota slipped into a moment of TV history last week.

TV talk show legend Jay Leno did his final "Tonight" show Thursday, and the comedian mentioned Minnesota in his final monologue, featuring a backyard luge story by KARE 11's Eric Perkins.

Perkins is no newcomer to the backyard luge. He folded his 6-foot-4 frame into a saucer and hit the icy track in a Crystal yard last month. He also sailed down an icy track in Elk River.

But the clip you'll see in Leno's final show had Perkins hollering as he careens down a backyard luge track in Cologne. "A lot of it is just me screaming," Perkins told the Star Tribune. He said he didn't know "Tonight" would be using his story.
