KARE introduces the new morning anchor replacing Tim McNiff

Kris Laudien replaces Tim McNiff beginning Monday.

Tim McNiff's last day as a morning news anchor at KARE 11 was Friday, which means Monday will bring a new personality to the anchor chair next to Alicia Lewis and Sven Sundgaard. 

The new guy: Kris Laudien, who made his way to the Twin Cities from Global News Canada. 


KARE's Tim McNiff is leaving morning show, launching a digital series

KARE gave viewers a first impression of Laudien through a 6-minute "get to know him" video on Friday.

You can watch the full version on KARE's website, but here's a slimmed down version – along with 10 things to know about him. 

  1. He can skate (obviously).
  2. Wears a size 11 skate.
  3. Loves Twitter.
  4. Dogs over cats.
  5. Enjoys cheesecake.
  6. Drinks beer while watching football.
  7. Hates grimy teeth.
  8. Doesn't drink much coffee or caffeine.
  9. Hockey is his favorite sport (obviously).
  10. Loves WWII history.

A recent news release from KARE said McNiff will be "launching a multi-platform news and sports digital series" which will "focus on in-depth commentary and insider interviews, pulling heavily on McNiff’s sports and news backgrounds."

"KARE 11 Sunrise" airs Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. - 7 a.m.
