Let's look at how the Starbucks unicorn drink compares to other food
You've probably at least heard about this unicorn drink Starbucks has right now, and may have even seen the pink-and-blue swirly concoction pass through your Instagram feed.
It's a limited-edition Frappuccino, set to run through April 23 – though in some places, like the Fargo-Moorhead area, it might be gone well before then, with the Forum saying the drink is "about as easy to find ... as an actual unicorn."
Some of us at GoMN gave the unicorn drink a try, and as you'll see in the video, a few had questions about what exactly is in it.
We tried the new Unicorn drink from Starbucks ... and it was kind of confusing.

So before you run out and try one, let's do a quick comparison. Here's what's in a grande (that's 16 ounces, the middle size) with 2 percent milk (not the fattiest whole milk like in the ones in the video above, but not skim or soy either). And with the whip cream on top.
Here's how the calories, fat, and sugar in the above size Unicorn Frappuccino stack up against some other items.
Medium fry from McDonald's
340 calories, 16 grams of fat (2 grams saturated fat), 0 grams of sugar.
(Compared to the Unicorn Frappuccino, it has fewer calories, more fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
Grilled chicken sandwich from Wendy's
360 calories, 8 grams of fat (1.5 grams saturated fat), 11 grams of sugar.
(Fewer calories, less fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
Coca Cola Vanilla (12-ounce can)
150 calories, 0 grams of fat, 42 grams of sugar.
(Fewer calories, less fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
Whole Caesar salad with chicken from Panera
450 calories, 27 grams of fat (7 grams of saturated fat), 2 grams of sugar.
(More calories, more fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
Chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles from Dunkin' Donuts
290 calories, 16 grams of fat (7 grams of saturated fat), 14 grams of sugar.
(Fewer calories, more fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
7-layer burrito from Taco Bell
440 calories, 16 grams of fat (6 grams of saturated fat), 4 grams of sugar.
(More calories, more fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
Snickers bar
250 calories, 12 grams of fat (4,5 grams of saturated fat), 27 grams of sugar.
(Fewer calories, less fat, less saturated fat, less sugar.)
What's our point?
We're not sitting here saying you should/shouldn't buy the unicorn thing, nor are we saying you should/shouldn't consume any of the things we listed above. It's strictly to help make sense of how some items you might order compare to one another.
