The Taste of Minnesota was a Fourth of July tradition for many years, but the festival has not been staged for the past three years after its owners declared bankruptcy.
But the multi-day event will return this summer, and the Star Tribune reports that the lineup for the headliners for the holiday event has been set. Taste of Minnesota will be held at Harriet Island in St. Paul from July 3-6.
Soul Asylum will play on July 3 and Cowboy Mouth will perform on July 4. Tom Keifer of the ‘80s group Cinderella is also on the lineup for July 5. Other acts and a headliner for July 6 will be revealed when Taste organizers formally announce their schedule.
Taste of Minnesota will return to a free admission policy for at least part of the day, with a minimal charge at certain times. The festival's website says the feel of the 2014 event will harken back to its origins. "The formula for the event will reflect what made Taste so successful in its first 26 years, while introducing new ideas that will make the 2014 event fresh. It will cater to families who want to enjoy good music, food and fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday," it said.
It's shaping into a big summer for live music-lovers in the Twin Cities, with Soundset scheduled for Canterbury Park on May 25 , the annual Basilica Block Party in July, the summer-long Music in the Zoo series and sold-out concerts featuring Paul McCartney on Aug. 2 at Target Field and a reunion by local indie favorites The Replacements at Midway Stadium in St. Paul on Sept. 13.
