Local band Step Rockets wins contest to open for Jon Bon Jovi

The Bon Jovi show is March 27 in St. Paul.

Jon Bon Jovi has a new opening act for his show in St. Paul.

Local group Step Rockets was picked to warm up the crowd at the Xcel Energy Center on March 27, after a contest to find an opener for each stop on the This House is Not For Sale tour, a news release says.

"We are so incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to grace the same stage as these living legends," Joshua Schmidt of Step Rockets said in the release. "Our journey as a band has had its twists and turns but these special moments remind us why we rock and roll. We can't wait to share our music with all the Jovials."

To enter, bands had to submit a video. You can watch the Step Rockets' entry here.

If you're interested in going to the show, tickets are still on sale.

You can check out the Step Rockets here or listen to their song "West Coast" below.
