A classic sitcom set in the Twin Cities and a former comedian-turned-U.S. senator are among the local connections on a new list from the Writers Guild of America, Deadline Hollywood reports.
"The Mary Tyler Moore Show," -- which was set at the fictional TV station WJM in Minneapolis -- was named the No. 6 on the WGA's list of the 101 Best Written TV Series of All Time released Sunday night.
Seven decades of shows were considered for the list by members the Writers Guild of America, West, and the Writers Guild of America, East.
Topping the Best Written TV Series list was "The Sopranos," created by David Chase, followed by "Seinfeld," "The Twilight Zone," "All in the Family" and "M*A*S*H."
