Minneapolitans don't need to be told how good the Jucy Lucy is, but no less an authority than CNN's "Eatocracy" has placed it among American's best.
Though there's still raging debate about which Jucy Lucy is the original (and we're not going there today), CNN just goes to Matt's in south Minneapolis, probably the most famous purveyor of cheese-stuffed ground beef.
But all sorts of Jucy Lucy fans make a trek here to gorge on whichever one they can find.
"It’s scalding, dangerous, hard to make and very, very good," according to a CNN wine and food writer, who makes the claim that Matt's invented it – no discussion. "I believe that the truly great Jucy Lucy has yet to be created, and that all the ones extant just represent a blind groping toward its future glory."
