A couple weeks after Prince passed away last year, his star at First Avenue turned gold overnight.

Longtime fan Gigi Berry calls it "yet another beautiful symbol of how he's stood out among the crowd, even in death."

Like her love for the singer, Berry has also been a fan of pins for most of her life. She has amassed a pretty impressive collection that includes a bunch of Prince-themed pins alongside dozens of other pop culture pieces, from Bob's Burgers to Kanye.

After years of collecting the pins as well as many other types of Prince memorabilia, the 31-year-old decided it was time to create some of her own designs.

"I wanted something different than what many makers had out right now and figured others would love them too," Berry told GoMN.

And they did. When her new website, Cherry Moon Press, went live Tuesday morning, Berry debuted her first pin – a one-inch, gold-plated and glittery star, modeled after the iconic First Ave marker. Berry says she found a supplier she liked and worked very closely with them to get the details just right.

"I know the kinds of pins I love to receive, so I was very specific about wanting a gold-plated, glitter pin with a gold butterfly clasp, so they're secure when attaching to your lapel, hat, bag, purse, etc."

She posted photos of the $10 pins on Twitter and Instagram, and fans immediately drooled and entered their credit card information.

And just like that, the "Baby I'm a Star" pin was sold out in a few hours.

Due to the popularity of the pin, Berry says she'll have more available soon – maybe even next week.

And this is only the beginning for Cherry Moon pins. Expect more Prince-themed pieces and other fun designs in the future. Berry also plans to start shipping worldwide.

In true Prince fashion, we asked Berry 7 questions to get to know her better:

1. That collection is impressive! How long have you been collecting pins? Thank you! I've been collecting all my life. I started with Disney pins and then Girl Scout pins, kinda just went from there. About a year ago, a friend gifted me a couple of pins, and they were so cute and unique. I eventually realized there was whole genre of pop culture pins, so I started collecting them.

2. Have you made pins before? What inspired you? No, not at all. This is my very first pin! I had quite a few Prince pins, but I also had so many ideas for pins I wanted to see be made. In some cases, you can't just go up to a pin maker and say "Hey can you make this please?" so I decided to just get it manufactured myself. I figured if I loved it, then many other fans would too.

3. You have a lot of really unique Prince items. Do you remember the first time you heard a Prince song, or how you became a fan? I think the first Prince song I heard was "Cream." I believe it was on Video Soul on BET and I was completely shook. I was pretty young, maybe 8 or 9? I remember I couldn't quite figure him out, and that intrigued me. I loved his hair, clothes, general badassery. He was just so cool. A family friend also had his CD Rom game, and I played it all the time – that's where my obsession began. Also his real name was Prince, and as a person with a weird name, I appreciated that.

4. Favorite Prince song? "7"

5. Did you ever get a chance to see him live? No, I did not. I did see his afro in real life at a Janelle Monae show though. He also had a sparkly cane. That's really all I need.

6. Are you doing anything for the anniversary of his passing Friday? No, because I feel like I have little tributes to him every day. Like my nails are always some variation of purple or gold. I have Prince playlists that match my mood. I love creating conversations with other fans when they see me in my Prince earrings, purse, or necklace. I quote him all the time. I take the time to learn something new about him when I can. His body is gone, but his spirit is still very much alive in all the people that loved him, and I learn that every day.

7. What's in store for the future of Cherry Moon? I named Cherry Moon after Under the Cherry Moonbecause I knew my first few pins would be in honor of Prince. So definitely more Prince pins in the future, as well as different pins, especially focusing on all the other pop culture things I'm obsessed with like The Simpsons, pro wrestling, makeup, internet, culture, etc.

Berry grew up in Atlanta and moved to Minneapolis after graduating from college in 2011. She currently lives between the two cities. You can connect with her and get pin updates on Twitter and Instagram.
