Milkjam Creamery releases Kelis-inspired milkshake

This "Better than yours" beverage won't last forever.

Milkjam Creamery has concocted a booze-infused milkshake inspired by R&B star Kelis. The treat comes ahead of her performance at Skyway Theatre takeover on Saturday.

The popular Uptown ice cream shop says the "Better Than Yours" beverage is a nod to the singer's highest-peaking single "Milkshake."

The drink combines Milkjam's 24 Karrot ice cream, rum, caramel whip cream, and a naturally golden honeycomb topping. There is also a non-alcoholic version available.

As both a singer/songwriter and chef, Kelis' food references run rampant in her music. "Milkshake" comes off of her 2003 release of Tasty, while her most recent sixth studio album is called Food.

Milkjam's ties to the local and national music scene are strong

This past spring, the shop released several Soundset-inspired sundaes, including a "MetaMorpheus" sundae adorned with butterflies to highlight local emcee Sa-Roc and a vibrant, tropical fruit "All the Beauty" sundae influenced by Brother Ali's album art.

Milkjam also recently created a purple-colored black currant and lavender flavored ice cream to commemorate the one year anniversary of Prince's death and a limited "Ridin Duuurty" milkshake spiked with Irish cream to subtly pay homage to Chamillionaire.

The boozy Kelis-themed milkshake will only be available this week, and if you RSVP in advance for the Red Bull Soundselect showcase featuring Kelis, Leikeli47 and Go 95.3's very own Sophia Eris you can get a $5 ticket.
