The luxury and lifestyle experts at Condé Nast Traveler have a phrase they use to describe certain destinations: "It's having a moment."
"It comes up a lot – that near-impossible-to-pin-down, can't-put-our-thumb-on-it logic as to why you should visit somewhere, now," the magazine says.
Apparently Minneapolis is having one of those moments, because the editors at Traveler just named the city among the "18 Best Places to Travel in 2018."
Minneapolis wasn't the only U.S. city on the list (New Orleans also made the cut) – but it's a pretty big honor to be listed alongside places like Antarctica and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
"This winter, the open secret of a city gets put firmly under the spotlight with the arrival of Super Bowl LII, but there are a few reasons to visit long after football has come and gone," Traveler says.
Among those reasons to visit? The city's "impressive list of restaurants, theaters, and natural attributes – not to mention that whole 'Minnesota Nice' thing."
The magazine also name drops Paisley Park and "the quietest place on earth" (Orfield Laboratories in south Minneapolis). It also highlights Minneapolis' high-ranking parks system and exciting food scene, with 13 James Beard Award semifinalists.
"Even better news? It's easier than ever to get to the Midwest city, with 28 new nonstop routes added in the last two years," Traveler says.
Alright, alright stop – we're blushing.
