Minnesota-made Twin Cities Film Festival favorite gets video release date

"Best Man Down," which made its debut at the 2012 Twin Cities Film Festival, is getting released on DVD and Blu-ray, Lionsgate Home Entertainment announced Thursday.

The home video distributor said in a press release that the comedy-drama would be available in stores and on iTunes Jan. 21.

The film was titled "Lumpy" when it premiered at the TCFF  in October 2012. It stars Justin Long as Scott, a new groom who is forced to cancel his honeymoon plans with his bride, Kristin (Jess Weixler), after his best man, Lumpy (Tyler Labine), unexpectedly dies the night of their wedding in Phoenix.

Tasked with finding a way to get Lumpy's body home to Minneapolis, Scott begins to learn more about the friend he thought he knew from a 15-year-old girl (Addison Timlin) in northern Minnesota.

The film was written and directed by Minnesota native and St. Olaf graduate Ted Koland, and was shot in various parts of the state.

Magnolia Pictures picked the film up for distribution after the TCFF. The film made its debut on-demand before a brief theatrical run this fall.
