Esteemed Minnesota State Fair attendee: Welcome to the first GoMN Music, Food & Beer Guide, curated by our editorial staff.
This will help you make the most of your time at the Great Minnesota Get-Together (and save a little money too).
For a copy of the printed guide featuring a map to the good stuff – even if your phone’s dead – visit the Go Radio Go Zone on the southeast side of Judson Avenue and Cooper Street, just east of the International Bazaar. (Here's a PDF if you want a preview.)
For an expanded look, here's our online edition, which will be updated throughout the State Fair. Let's get started!
A star-studded lineup greets State Fair music fans this year, and the entertainment fits every budget and interest. Curated by music writer Zach McCormick, everything in our guide is free, unless we have ticket info listed.
As for the rest of the stages, there are 900 free shows to choose from – including Hippo Campus and George Clinton at the Leinie Lodge – so you can save your money for beer and food.
Eating something classic, new, or bizarre is a definitive part of the Minnesota State Fair. Here, with help from food writer Mecca Bos, we simplify your quest for a bodacious bite. Start with this list of the top-rated (and tastiest) classics.
Now, the trendy options. If you need the full list, here are all 31 *NEW* foods at the fair this year. But for the ones that you absolutely must not miss, Mecca narrowed it down to five.

OMG, so much beer. For the sake of simplifying things, we're focusing on the new stuff at the State Fair. It'll take a thirsty drinker to get through all of these.
And here's even more: One of the best spots for beer enthusiasts is the Land of 10,000 Beers exhibit. They've got 300 different beers from nearly 70 local breweries at this year's exhibit, held in the Agriculture/Horticulture Building.

Go Guide: Is the Blue Book worth it?
Last year we rounded up the best selfie spots, but a new one worth a look is a giant Ferris wheel. Here's why your mobile phone service is so much better this year and what to expect from the restrooms.
Lastly, if you're really in a rush, here's a 30-second guide to the 2017 State Fair, including which day is the least busy. See you there!
