Minnesota teen's wish granted to meet 'Top Model' hero Tyra Banks

A 19-year-old woman from Hermantown recently lived out her dream by meeting her "America's Next Top Model" hero Tyra Banks, the Duluth News Tribune reports.

Molly McGovern, who graduated from Hermantown High School in 2012, had her wish granted by the Kids Wish Network to travel with her family to Los Angeles to, among other things, visit the set of "America's Next Top Model."

McGovern, who has cerebral palsy and is a quadriplegic, says she's been a fan of Banks since she was 10. She says she'd spend some of her time in hospitals watching marathons of the Banks-hosted CW reality competition, which works to discover the next big thing in modeling.

According to the News Tribune, McGovern and her family spent about eight hours backstage at a taping of "America's Top Model," which is currently in its 20th cycle.

In addition to meeting Banks, McGovern said she met the show's judges. In addition, McGovern and her two sisters got "Top Model" style makeovers.

McGovern tells the News Tribune that the experience had her "kind of freaking out," and that she "was really nervous and about to cry at the same time."

A first-year student at Lake Superior College, McGovern says she plans to eventually work with special education students. She's done a bit of modeling locally, and plans on doing more following her "Top Model" experience.
