Minnesotans are too polite to bother Bernie Sanders at MSP Airport

He's one of the most popular politicians in the country right now. But we would never interrupt his dinner, oh no.

Minnesotans are not great with people they don't know.

Some may call us "reserved" – others, if they want to be a bit harsher, would say we're cold and unsociable and don't open up. There's an entire website dedicated to making new friends in the area because of how much of a challenge it can be. And this site is just a guide for newcomers who don't know how to handle it.

So it really shouldn't be surprising that one of the most well-liked politicians in the entire country, who ran for president in 2016 and catapulted himself into the spotlight, could sit at the Twin Cities airport and be totally undisturbed.

Here's Bernie Sanders, caught by Neighborhoods Organizing for Change Field Director Mike Griffin, just eatin' soup. With zero fanfare outside of the tweet.

What was he doing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport? Not sure. He was in Montana over the weekend though, campaigning for Democrat Rob Quist, the Daily Beast reports. Quist is running in a Thursday special election for the U.S. House. Montana has to replace former Rep. Ryan Zinke, who left to become the Secretary of Interior.

Maybe he was flying back home to his home state of Vermont, with a layover at MSP.

Whatever the reason, he enjoyed an early dinner. And was apparently able to eat completely undisturbed.

A March survey by Fox News of all types of voters found 61 percent of people had a favorable view of Sanders – the highest figure among all of the politicians asked about, including Mike Pence, Elizabeth Warren, Paul Ryan, Nancy Pelosi, and Donald Trump. As the Washington Post pointed out, that continues a trend of Sanders doing well in these polls.

Minnesota Democrats have had a thing for him since last year. He beat out eventual nominee Hillary Clinton in Minnesota's caucuses, 61 percent to 38 percent.

But would we bother him during a meal? Oh no, of course not. We're Minnesota Nice.

(Or maybe just Minnesota reserved.)
