Haley O'Brien, of Excelsior, has been selected as Miss Minnesota USA and will represent the state in the 63rd annual Miss USA Pageant next year.

O'Brien was crowned at a competition Sunday at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center, KARE 11 reports. Catherine Stanley, of Bloomington, was crowned Miss Minnesota Teen USA 2014 at the same event.

O'Brien is a student at St. Cloud State and graduated from Minnetonka High School, and she is an aspiring medical school student, her pageant Facebook page says.

Minnesota has only had one Miss USA winner in a six-decade history, Barbara Peterson, of Edina, in 1976.

The Miss USA Pageant, owned by Donald Trump, feeds the Miss Universe Pageant. Details about the date and location of the 2014 Miss USA Pageant have yet to be announced.
