Mixed bag of snow, ice, rain on the way for MN

The roads could be a bit slick on Monday.
Author:

There's potential for slick roads overnight and into Monday thanks to some snow, freezing rain and rain on the way.

Here's the expectation, courtesy of the National Weather Service

"A mix of rain, snow and light freezing rain will develop tonight across most of Minnesota, and continue across the area on Monday. Snow accumulations up to a few inches are possible in the northwest, while ice accumulations are possible west of I-35."

They're not calling for much snow in the Twin Cities, but 1-3 inches is possible mainly along and north of a line from Morris to Lake Mille Lacs.

If the temperatures are just right there could be ice accumulations from .05-.10 inches (mainly west of I-35), although the NWS says there might not be any freezing rain at all "if temps are off by even 1-2 degrees."

As for temperatures, the next 10 days are supposed to be below normal, with the NWS saying "spring won't arrive for at least couple weeks."

Great. Thanks.
