MN-made gift idea: AK Collective vintage apparel and handmade cards

Aimee Kriegl carefully curates vintage items to sell at her northeast Minneapolis studio.

Minneapolis-based stylist, photographer and vintage shop owner Aimee Kriegl runs a showroom in northeast Minneapolis. Under the moniker AK Collective, she sources and sells unique clothing, accessories and home decor pieces.

Since opening up shop three years ago, Kriegl has continually built her vintage trove, both by shopping local and by picking up pieces on her frequent travels.

"I started the business because I love the thrill of the thrift, and I love that every piece has a story," Kriegl says.

The clothing and accessories from AK Collective could make for thoughtful gifts for the fashion conscious folks in your life. Jewelry and clothing at AK typically range from $5-$75 per item.

Even if you've already done your shopping, Kriegl suggests her handmade cards to add a personal flair to any gift you give this season. "THE FIVE FOLD" design she has created includes a blank insert to leave an original message.

The variety of patterns and textures of paper she uses to create the cards can even be customized upon request to add a personal flair. The cards range from $3-$5 depending on size.

As far as other local gifts go, Kriegl suggests any work done by the female-powered creative trio called Pacify Minneapolis. Kindred spirits to Kriegl, the collective create wearable art by painting bold and colorful graphics on denim jackets and other clothing items.

You can shop Kriegl's curated shop online here, and follow AK Collective on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for new item posts and styled shoots.
