Longtime graphic designer Angela Olson's attention to detail is all over her hand-crafted, colorful handbags.

After working as a graphic designer for several years, Angela Olson was looking for a creative work that didn’t require sitting in front of the computer all day. In 2003, she created fabric handbags that she sold online and distributed to boutiques.

Then in 2013, Olson launched her leather handbag line, Angela Valentine Handbags. In her home studio in New Ulm, Olson crafts each handbag herself from concept, design, pattern-making, sourcing materials, cutting, and constructing.

Her bee zipper wallets and braided tassel cuffs make for unique stocking stuffers. Olson also says her Loel crossbody bag, which comes in a variety of colors and funky embroidered designs, make for a fun gifts for the fashion-conscious. She also crafts personalized pouches that are great for makeup lovers. ($24-$320;

As far as other gift ideas go, Olson says, "I love Laurie Luehmann jewelry, Nikckichicki hand knit outerwear, and Joeleen Torvick clothing."
