MN native Maria Bamford's 'Lady Dynamite' is getting a season 2

Publish date:

Duluth native Maria Bamford's television show "Lady Dynamite" is coming back for another round.

During a Television Critics Association press tour, Netflix announced last week that "Lady Dynamite" will be returning in 2017, adding to the ever-growing roster of Netflix original programming in the creative pipeline.

The episode count, cast list, and other information are unknown.

The series, based on Bamford's own life and mental health struggles, was released earlier this year in May to pretty solid reviews.

"Lady Dynamite" got an 85 out of 100 on Metacritic, and was heralded as a "cheerful, dark, surreal, profane, aspirational, meta-fictional" comedy by the LA Times.

The show also has a 97 percent rating on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix also announced they would be renewing Rob Schneider's "Real Bob" for a second season and a 90-episode renewal for Chelsea Handler's Talk Show "Chelsea."
