New 'Empire' season will have Prince-themed episode

The hit TV show will pay tribute to the Purple One.

A whole episode of Empire's upcoming fourth season will be an homage to Prince.

The producers of the hit FOX show announced on Tuesday the fourth episode of the new season will be all about the Purple One.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals two of the hip-hop show's characters Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will perform a version of "Let's Go Crazy" during the episode.

It will be set in a Prince-themed party that will feature a Prince cake and characters dressed-to-the-nines as Minnesota's most famous musical export.

E! News notes the themed episode is a departure from the norm for Empire, which usually features original music.

Empire star Terence Howard was friends with Prince, which the Star Tribune reports dated back to around 2000 when they were studying to be Jehovah's Witnesses.

The newspaper notes Prince had a closer relationship with Empire executive producer Sanaa Hamri, who directed Prince in the videos for "Black Sweat," "Musicology" and "Call My Name."

Prince famously made an appearance on another FOX show, New Girl,in a third season episode set at a party in his Los Angeles home.
