Several stars from '70s network television are in the Twin Cities shooting a new film drama.
My Town Pictures started filming "One Song" in Excelsior on Sunday. The film stars St. Paul native Mike Farrell ("M*A*S*H" TV series), Sally Kellerman ("M*A*S*H" film version), Melissa Gilbert ("Little House on the Prairie") and Barbara Eden ("I Dream of Jeannie").
Written and directed by Scott Thompson, the film also features Minnesota actors Catherine Penning, Carolyn Pool, Gretchen Emo, Susan Chambers and Kiera Morrill.
According to the production, "One Song" will film at the Old Log Theater, Excelsior Commons Park, 318 Café, Jake O’Connors, Antiquity Rose and Leipolds.
Additional filming will take place at local homes on Lake Minnetonka and the Lafayette Club.
My Town Pictures says the film "is about a woman in her 70s whose re-discovery of her love for singing ignites her passion for life."
Kellerman stars in the lead role.
"She gave up this passion several decades earlier when she married an emotionally abusive man and relegated her life and dreams in order to serve his," the production says of Kellerman's character in a press release. "When she begins to break free of his control, it is ironically her daughters and granddaughters who blame her for disrupting the fragile family peace which she had carefully guarded for 50 years."
The filmmakers plan on showing "One Song" at different national and international film festivals upon completion. Locally, the film will premiere at the Excelsior Dock Cinema in early 2014.
