New series starring Minnesota native Zahn among TV's midseason shows

With the new year comes a slew of midseason replacement shows on all the major television networks, including a new series featuring Marshall native Steve Zahn.

Zahn, who has starred in such hit films as "Reality Bites," "That Thing You Do" and "You've Got Mail," stars in the ABC psychological drama "Mind Games."

The series, which debuts March 11, features Zahn and Christian Slater as "brothers and partners in a unique agency committed to solving clients' problems using the hard science of psychological manipulation," ABC says.

In its rundown of virtually every show debuting this winter, the Washington Post says "Zahn plays the goofy, genius one" in the series.

Slater plays a slick ex-con man who has done time in prison, the network says.

ABC purchased the pilot for the "Mind Games" last February, when the series was titled "Influence."

Zahn's other credits include the HBO series "Treme," and the films "Daddy Day Care," "Rescue Dawn" and "Dallas Buyers Club."

The actor graduated from high school in New Hope and also acted at the Old Log Theater in Excelsior.
