New teaser trailer released for Josh Hartnett's horror series

A new teaser trailer for the upcoming horror series starring Minnesota native Josh Hartnett has been released, but Hartnett has yet to make his appearance.

Instead, reports, it's Hartnett's co-star Eva Green featured in the 30-second spot for Showtime's "Penny Dreadful," which is being described as a "psycho sexual thriller."

In the teaser, Green's character is shown intensely praying while bowing down in front of a crucifix. When she looks up, she discovers the crucifix has been flipped upside-down.

Interspersed in the sequence are the words, "We all have our demons."

Although no official photos of Hartnett have been released by Showtime, the Canadian-based blog Sneak Peek has shot of the Twin Cities actor walking on set in costume and sporting long, bushy hair.

The blog Just Jared also has an on-set photo of Hartnett, wearing a bowler hat and period costume.

According to Showtime, the series is set in London during the Victorian period, where famous literary characters like Dr. Frankenstein, Count Dracula and Dorian Gray are fictionalized and their origin stories are woven together.

Showtime announced in July that Hartnett and Green were the first stars cast in series.

Since then, the series has added such actors as Timothy Dalton ("The Living Daylights") and Reeve Carney (Broadway's "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark") to the cast.

"Penny Dreadful" is currently filming in Dublin, Ireland. Showtime has yet to announce a premiere date for the series, which will debut sometime in 2014.

Fans can follow the progress of the production through a series of videos on the show's YouTube page.
