No Minnesota beers made the Best Beers in America list

We've got more than 100 craft breweries – but not one got a beer on this list.

The best beers in America ... aren't made in Minnesota, apparently.

The American Homebrewers Association released the results of its 15th annual Best Beers in America survey. And no Minnesota beers made it into the top 50.

The No. 1 beer in America is Bell's Two Hearted Ale, which beat out Russian River Brewing Company's double IPA Pliny the Elder (that beer had been ranked No. 1 in the country for eight straight years).

Here are the top 10 beers, according to the survey:

The survey asks members of the American Homebrewers Association to choose up to 20 of their favorite commercial beers available in the U.S. to come up with the list of the Best Beers in America.

One Minnesota brewery got some credit

Even though a Minnesota-made beer didn't make the best beers list, one Minnesota brewery did rank among the top breweries in the country on the survey. Surly Brewing in Minneapolis came in at No. 24 (out of 25 breweries).

Surly was also named the best brewery in Minnesota, and two of its brews – Todd the Axe Man and Abrasive Ale – tied for best beer in the state.

Local craft beers may have a better shot at making next year's list, though. The American Homebrewers Association's National Homebrewers Conference was in Minneapolis this past weekend, where thousands of homebrewers from around the country came to learn about brewing – and drink different beers from around the region.

Five Minnesota homebrewers even took home awards for their beer. See a list of the winners here.
