Sorry, Brainerd, but the National Weather Service has just upped your snow potential for today.
This morning, the NWS was calling for 2-5 inches in and around the Brainerd area, but they've since boosted it to 4-6 inches of snow.
Why boost the amounts originally forecast? Well, you're not going to believe this.
"It is my first shift," an unnamed meteorologist wrote in the midday forecast discussion from the NWS-Duluth, "so it is taking some time to get a good grip on the forecast and this weather scenario."
Hey, we've all been where this mystery meteorologist is, but how many of us can truthfully say we owned our error like this person has?
And isn't it refreshing to hear a meteorologist tell it like it is? We all know how hard it is to predict the weather, especially here in Minnesota where we experience the extremes of all four seasons.
Anyway, central and northern Minnesota is getting the majority of the snow while the Twin Cities gets a mixed bag of snow and very cold rain.
