A former One Direction star will play the State Fair next year

Yes we know, this year's State Fair has only just ended.

Sweet Martha's oven has barely cooled down, but it hasn't stopped Minnesota State Fair organizers from announcing the first act for next year's Grandstand series.

Just 11 days after the doors closed on the Great Minnesota Get-Together, it's been announced that former One Direction star Niall Horan will perform the opening night at the 2018 State Fair.

The boy band member is carving out a solo career for himself, with his debut album following hot on the heels of his single "Slow Hands," which hit No. 1 in 44 countries.

His first single, "This Town," was released in fall 2016 and has been streamed more than 350 million times online. And he just put a new single on his YouTube page.

One Direction's global popularity is likely to ensure tickets for the State Fair show are in hot demand, with Horan stopping in Minnesota as part of his global Flicker World Tour.

Tickets will cost $59 and $49 for the concert, which will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.

He will be supported by rising country star Maren Morris.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. You can find more information here.
