If you're of Norwegian ancestry and want a shot at reality TV stardom, your time has come.
The Star Tribune reports that there will be an open casting call at the Mall of America next week for the fifth season of the Norwegian reality show "Alt for Norge."
The show, also known as "The Great Norway Adventure," is Norway's top reality TV series. The show is reportedly akin to the U.S. reality series "The Amazing Race."
FOX 9 said during the series, Norwegian-Americans compete head-to-head for a $50,000 prize, and also get a chance to meet their Norwegian relatives.
The Star Tribune said last year's "Alt for Norge" competition included three contestants from the Twin Cities.
Interested parties can try out at the Executive Center at the Mall of America from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.
To audition, potential contestants must have Norwegian heritage and be at least 18 years old by Feb. 16, 2014. Also, applicants must never have traveled to Norway.
To get on a VIP list for auditions, interested parties can email email@example.com. People can also submit auditions online.
The show airs on the channel TVNorge in Norway, says Norway.org.
As of 2009, approximately 868,361 Minnesotans claimed to be of Norwegian ancestry, 16.5 percent of the state's population,Wikipedia says.
