Update: Paisley Park announces new open tour dates

More Paisley Park tour days.

Update: Paisley Park has released more days it will be open for tours.

Prince's former Chanhassen home/recording space/performance complex will have tours on Oct. 13, 15, 21, 22 and 23, according to a news release Wednesday morning.

That's in addition to Oct. 14, which was among the three original dates Paisley Park was approved to open.

The Chanhassen City Council Monday gave Paisley Park permission to operate an additional 12 days – we've reached out to the organizers to see if they plan on announcing more dates in the future.

Tickets for the new dates are "extremely limited," the website says.

The $100 VIP tickets and $38.50 general admission tickets appear to be available for all six upcoming days (as of Wednesday morning).

The original story from Tuesday about the city council's decision is below.

First they were told "Not yet," then they were given three days – and now Paisley Park will get 12 more to hold tours for hopeful Prince fans.

The Chanhassen City Council voted Monday evening to extend Paisley Park's temporary events permit another 12 days, according to the city's website.

Paisley Park says on its website tours for Oct. 13 and 15 are now on sale – and they expect to announce more dates soon. The original three-day permit only allowed for Oct. 6, 8 and 14.

Here are the days available still as of Tuesday afternoon.

As Councilmember Elisa Ryan proposed during Monday's meeting, she wants to use the opportunity to do traffic studies and understand the impacts to the area while it's operating under a temporary permit – rather than planning it all and hoping it's correct before a real launch.

And if they have it all by the next council meeting (Oct. 24), it lets them make a more-informed decision, Ryan argued.

They had to do some double-checking – they weren't sure if the council had the power to extend a temporary permit. After getting the OK, they discussed for awhile before voting to give Paisley Park 12 more days. (The video is all online here if you want the nitty gritty details.)

There was even a work session held before the meeting to discuss Paisley Park, and all the different things that need to be done, including parking, road work, a possible trail, and more.

If you haven't seen it yet, Al Roker toured Paisley Park and brought a camera crew along.

And check out this story about painter Dan Lacey, who's got an unofficial "art walk" featuring Prince outside Paisley Park.
