'Parks and Recreation' star to do stand-up gig in Twin Cities

"Parks and Recreation" star Aziz Ansari is bringing his stand-up act to the Twin Cities, the Hennepin Theatre Trust has announced.

Ansari, who's earned critical acclaim for his role as Tom Haverford opposite Amy Poehler on the hit NBC sitcom, will play the State Theatre April 6.

In addition to "Parks and Recreation," Ansari has won acclaim for his hosting gig for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. He recently released online his second hour-long stand-up special "Dangerously Delicious," recorded during his nationwide "Dangerously Delicious Tour."

Ansari has also starred in such films as "I Love You, Man," "30 Minutes or Less," and had a voice role in "Ice Age: Continental Drift." He also has a voice role in the upcoming animated adventure comedy "Epic."

Tickets for Ansari's stand-up show at the State Theatre are on sale now.
