A bar a stone's throw from the 50th and France Minneapolis/Edina border appears to have closed down.

The Pig & Fiddle, on West 50th Street in Minneapolis' Fulton neighborhood, has been closed the past few days with a sign in its door saying it's closed for "remodeling."

No official announcements have been made on the bar's website or social media pages, but Kari Williams, who ran the popular Tuesday trivia nights at the bar, confirmed to GoMN it is closing.

The Pig & Fiddle had an extensive craft beer selection and a European influenced menu including chip butties, mussels, pierogi and Bavarian pretzels.

It opened towards the end of 2011 by Mark Van Wie and Paul Schatz, who created it as a sister to its popular St. Paul bar, the Muddy Pig.

They selected the venue next to the upmarket 50th and France intersection because for all its nearby restaurant options, there wasn't a local pub in the neighborhood, the pair told Edina Mag.

It now looks like the intersection could be pub-less once again, and comes just a few months after another 50th & France eatery, Mozza Mia, also shut its doors.

However, Excelsior bar Coalition did just open its second location right next to the Pig & Fiddle.
