A Taste of Minnesota is calling it quits – for good.
Linda Maddox, the general manager of the popular festival, announced Thursday "with a mixture of sadness and excitement" that she is retiring, which means the event is coming to an end.
"Thank you to the fans, vendors and visitors who supported A Taste of Minnesota throughout the years. I’m also deeply grateful to our gracious hosts in Waconia and Carver County, and to the team in St. Paul who supported us in our first 26 years," Maddox wrote on the Taste of Minnesota Facebook page.
The festival was the "pride and joy" of Maddox's late husband Ron, who created A Taste of Minnesota in 1983. The couple managed the event together from 1996-2008, before it was sold and later closed.
"I'm confident that now is the best time for me to begin the next chapter of life as a retiree," Maddox wrote.
Many people who enjoyed the festival over the years commented on the Facebook post, thanking Maddox for the memories and wishing her the best. Read the comments here.
