Prince finally OKs YouTube video of him covering Radiohead's 'Creep'

Way back in 2008, Prince performed at Coachella, and during the set did a cover of Radiohead's "Creep."

YouTubers kept trying to put video of it online – but Prince wasn't having it, and his record label requested they be taken down due to copyright infringement, MusicTimes reported.

Thom Yorke, Radiohead's lead vocalist, didn't appreciate the blocking maneuvers and said a couple years ago:

"Really? He's blocked it? Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment. Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our ... song."

But now Prince – who has a um, curious and inconsistent history with the Web, having once declared the Internet "over" – appears to have endorsed the existence of one of those videos.

On Tuesday morning his Twitter account sent this out:

It includes a link to the YouTube performance embedded above.

The video was actually uploaded in October, but this is really the first time Prince publicly gave it his unofficial Purple blessing.

At least for now.
