Another update about the musical acts that will headline at the Minnesota State Fair's Grandstand arrived Wednesday with the news that the Queen of Soul and an all-star lineup of favorite Minnesota acts have been booked.

Aretha Franklin, called a "living legend" in the story in the Pioneer Press, will headline on August 22. Surprisingly, the appearance will mark the 72-year-old Queen of Soul's first grandstand appearance. TheStar Tribune noted that the State Fair show will be one of only seven performances listed on the summer itinerary of the Rock Hall of Famer. Tickets are $45 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Brother Ali will headline the third annual "MN Music On-a-Stick" concert sponsored by the Current on Aug. 30. He'll be joined by hip-hop collective Doomtree, Bob Mould formerly of Husker Du, Cloud Cult, Har Mar Superstar and the Cactus Blossoms. Additional Minnesota acts may be added. The $30 tickets also go on sale at noon Saturday.

Tickets will be available at etix.com and by phone at 800-514-3849. The State Fair's box office will open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, with regular hours starting June 2.

One more Grandstand show, for the Fair's opening night on Aug. 21, will be announced soon. The State Fair has already announced that Linkin Park and Kid Rock have been booked for Grandstand shows. In addition, the Fair is promoting a blue-ribbon lineup of more than 900 free acts and shows that will staged on the grounds.

The 2014 Minnesota State Fair runs Aug. 21 through Sept. 1
