The loss of its original location last year isn't stopping Red's Savoy from growing elsewhere in the Twin Cities.
The pizza chain, which has claimed ownership of 'Sota-style pizza, is planning to open three more locations across the metro area.
Check out its website and you can see it's planning a St. Louis Park restaurant at 8508 Highway 7, which President Reed Daniels told GoMN is expected to open next month.
Another meanwhile is planned at 15050 Cedar Avenue in Apple Valley, which will open in April.
The third planned location has been reported by the Business Journals, which states it'll be going up at 143 Snelling Avenue North in St. Paul – a former Dairy Queen site.
It's scheduled to open sometime in the summer, the report notes. It'll bring Red's Savoy's presence in Minnesota up to 18 locations.
It'll also mean Red's Savoy's presence in St. Paul is back up to two pizza joints, following the closure of its original location on the east side of the city last year.
The location was likely to be closed anyway, but it's shuttering was hastened by the death of company founder Earl "Red" Schoenheider, who opened his first eatery in 1965.
Red's now claims to be the home of Minnesota-style pizza, which it says is square cut, heavily-topped, thin crust pizza with mountains of cheese.
